What is centripetal accleration? What could it be used for?

It is the rate of change of tangential velocity. It has to do with circular motion. You could relate it to swinging on a swingset somehow.

It is the rate of change of tangential velocity. This means the acceleration of an object around a circle. Swing you arm around in circles to get a visual of tangrential velocity and the varying centripetal acceleration.
