Ideal Fluid

What is ideal fluid? What does it have to do with fluid motion?

Ideal fluid has no viscosity. Viscosity is the resitance of a fluid. It has resistance to flow.

An ideal fluid has no viscosity. This is impossible just like a frictionless surface. With that being said viscosity is similar to friction but pertains to fluids. Viscosity is a measure of a fluid's resitance to flow.

Ideal fluid is a measure of resistance of fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or extensional stress. It has not viscosity. It is a fluid's resistance to flow.
