Momentum is actually defined as "mass in motion." Therefore as the mass changes the momentum changes proportionally. The more mass you have the higher the momentum and vise versa.
Momentum change = mass times velocity change. Therefore the more mass the more momentum change. The less mass the less momentum change. So basically if the mass changes teh momentum changes.
