After Today

Today you went to hear a speaker talk to you about Martin Luther King, one of the great men on our time. I want you to tell me about one African American Scientist that contributed in the area of Physics and what did he do?

Otis Boykin lived from 1920-1982. He helped create the control unit for the pacemaker. He also made electronic devices used in heart stimulators and guided missiles.

George Washington Carver, an agricultural chemist, is most known for his numerous inventions for the use of peanuts, but he was also responsible for many other discoveries. Despite his hundreds of inventions, he only patented three so that he could make his inventions freely available to everyone.

Charles S. Brown has worked on projects in theoretical physics, experimental physics, optical fiber applications in telecommunications and various related engineering areas. His main area of scientific interest is in polarization optics and its applications to optical fibers. Right now he is working on prototypes for single mode fiber optics.
