Liquid or gas

Is a fluid a liquid or gas? How can a fluid be a gas?

It is both. A fluid is a nonsolid state of matter in which the atoms or molecules are free to move past each other, as in a gas or a liquid. It can be an gas because of when it's a liquid and it evporates to an gas.

A fluid is a substance that is capable of flowing and that changes its shape at a steady rate when acted upon by a force tending to change its shape. Therefore, a fluid can be a liquid or a gas. A gas can be a fluid when it has the right density, you just can't always see it flow.

A fluid can be a liquid or a gas. It can change through evaporation into a gas. It still qualifies as a fluid when it is a gas because it has the same properties; it is still a no solid state of matter with atoms and molecules freely moving.
